Your Child's First Visit
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that each child by the age of 7 should see an Orthodontist for an initial examination or screening. Providing the proper environment and spacing for permanent teeth is a very important part of avoiding orthodontic problems later in life.
Even young children can understand the basics of orthodontics. At the start of our dialogue, we will provide a demonstration with models and photographs so your child will understand and feel comfortable with the treatment process. We encourage parents to help explain that orthodontics is a gradual and comfortable process of adjustment of teeth alignment and facial structure.
We enjoy children and are committed to making each of our younger patients enjoy the treatment process.
We encourage the brothers and sisters of our younger patients to attend an appointment. This an excellent way for each to become familiar with our office and to understand the process of orthodontics. They are welcome to watch treatment and play video games while waiting.
Your First Visit
During your first visit we will provide you with a walk-through of our office. You will be introduced to our staff and provided with an explanation of how each phase of treatment works.
A comprehensive visual examination of the teeth, jaw and facial areas will be performed. We will discuss any concerns that you may have. Next, we will review our findings with you and present our recommendation for treatment.
Records, x-ray's, and photographs are usually taken at the initial appointment or can be scheduled at the next appointment. A consultation may be conducted to review policies and procedures. Our Treatment Coordinator will present financial options to you and assist you in determining which financial plan best fits your particular needs.
A consultation packet is provided which details our office policies, procedures and helpful instructions on how to achieve the maximum benefit from treatment while leading a normal lifestyle.
We encourage you to ask questions and raise any concerns that you may have about treatment at any time during the initial examination, the consultation or throughout treatment. When you leave our office after your initial visit we want you to feel totally confident and fully informed.
